We could hardly believe our eyes this morning when, over a bowl of cereal and a cup of tea, we were catching up on our celeb goss and spotted our very own London Ghost Bus Tour featuring in the latest news.

It seems Britain’s Got Talent judge and star of the Shrek musical Amanda Holden was celebrating her last performance in the West End of London with a Ghost Bus Tour for her and fellow cast and crew members. Amanda is heading off on maternity leave so obviously wanted a send off with a difference!

The classic double decker London bus picked up the stars after the show and took them on a tour of London showing them all things spooky. The bus is actually a genuine ‘necrobus’ which was used to transport the coffin and the entourage in mourning to the funeral as recently as the 1960s.

What made us laugh the most was the paparazzi ‘pose’ one cheeky member of the party struck from the top deck of the bus! If you go on this tour with your mates that kind of behaviour is strictly forbidden, star or no star!!

What a cheeky pose!

When a Spitfire flies in Switzerland…

Beautiful mountains and a proper old school RAF scene for the stunning Spitfire

There’s nothing more British in the world of aviation than a Supermarine Spitfire and we had a surprise the other weekend when a superb example of a Spitfire flew in the Swiss mountains at an International Air Show in Sion.

Recently acquired by Stephen Stead who is originally from Leicester, the Spitfire, registered G-MXVI is hangared in Germany alongside a growing roster of classic aircraft.

The MkXVI Spitfire flew in to Sion airport in the Valais area of Switzerland for three aerial demonstrations over the weekend. Piloted by Dan Griffiths, a renowned test pilot by and superb display aerobatics pilot, the sound of the Merlin engine zooming around the grey and heavy skies around the Swiss mountains was a sheer delight.

Dan really gave the thousands of spectators a fantastic display and it was great to get up so close the aircraft as she taxied back to stand literally just a couple of metres away from where we stood. Ahhh halcyon times!

If you know someone who loves the Spitfire as much as we do, Into the Blue has some really rather special experiences where you can go flying with a Spitfire. Pilot Charlie Brown offers a host of experiences which involve you flying in a helicopter over the South East of England as the Spitfire flies, quite literally, around you.

Prices for the Spitfire flying experiences from Into the Blue start at £235 per person for the taster experience, with all vouchers valid for a full year.
