Go on, give them something special this Father's Day

Go on, give them something special this Father's Day

It falls on the third Sunday each June, but every year we all need a little nudge to remind us that we should be thinking of our Dads on this one special day of the year.

Now, if like us, you live several hundred miles away from your Dad, buying them an activity gift voucher is a great way to wish them ‘Happy Father’s Day’, as they’ll be bowled over with their gift and they get to decide when they actually want to do their activity over the course of the next 12 months.

If you pick something like a 30 minute Trial Flying Lesson in a light aircraft, we’ve got venues across the UK, so Dad can even choose which airfield he’d like to fly from.

Another  activity ideal for getting Dad’s pulse racing again is a rally driving day, where he’ll have great fun learning how to do handbrake turns in the gravel and getting those tyres a-screeching. And we think it’s a nice way to pay him back for the number of times you called ‘Dad Cars’ - that free taxi service that would come out in the early hours of the morning to pick you up after a party!

If you want an activity that you can join in with and actually do alongside Dad, many of our experiences are available as vouchers for two and some are only available for two or more. We picked out the Wine Tasting in Sussex near Crawley, which includes a tour, wine and food tasting lunch and a bottle of wine for two people, all for just £69.

Forget lunch down the pub, stock car racing is much more of a fun outing for Father's Day

Forget lunch down the pub, stock car racing is much more of a fun outing for Father's Day

If you want to take your Dad out for Father’s Day and would like to organise something different from Sunday lunch in the pub, how about opting for Stock Car Racing Night?

We’ve got vouchers for a pair at £30 or a family at £35, to go and watch the maddest sport on the track at 23 different stock car racing tracks throughout the UK. With racing usually taking place on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon, it will certainly make for a Father’s Day outing to remember and much more fun than another pair of socks or aftershave as a gift.

Now writing about all these Father’s Day gift ideas has got us thinking - so we’re off for a browse of the Into the Blue website ourselves to see what we buy our Dad that he hasn’t already done!

Treat them to a traditional barber shop shave experience

The luxury of a cut throat shave at a traditional barber shop

The luxury of a cut throat shave at a traditional barber shop

We thought blokes were all happy enough using those fancy multi-bladed Gillette safety razors as advertised by Tiger Woods et al, but no, we’ve been assured that there is nothing quite like having a proper cut throat shave.

Convenient then, that we’ve got traditional barber shop shaves available on the Into the Blue website for that perfect manly gift! We’ve got salons in central Manchester and London to choose between, each offering a choice of packages.

Indeed, the experiences are more about a taste of male pampering than a simple trip to the barbers for a shave and both salons offer traditional wet shaves using a super sharp cut-throat or straight razor.

The skill really is all in the angle of ‘attack’ as it were and the professionals at these salons have spent some serious time perfecting their shaving skills, to ensure you get a shave that’s sure to feel far superior to whatever Mr Gillette can offer. And let’s face it, there’s the aesthetically pleasing nostalgia and tradition of it all that any man will love.

As well the traditional shave, you can choose packages that include hair cuts, facials and even manicures if you’re keen to give a man in your life the luxury barber shop experience.

Prices start at just £25 for a traditional wet shave with hot towels at the uber hip salon in Manchester, or £49 for the luxury traditional shave at the salon in the flagship Alfred Dunhill store in central London, which just oozes city slicker cool.
