So this is what the Into the Blue staff get up to at the weekends!

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Not content with seeking out exciting new products all week long, our head of Product Development spent last weekend taking part in a thrilling dragon boat race, at Bewl water in Kent, to raise money for a local charity.

Nurse Klinger raising money for charity at the dragon boat racing

Our very own Nurse Klinger at Bewl water dragon boat racing this weekend

Of course, we’re writing this piece because we’re proud that our intrepid staff member managed to raise a sizable amount of money for the Bishop’s Down Primary school, but we’re also writing it as it’s a good excuse to publish photos of our Darren in a dress. Yes, a dress.

It seems the team decided on the theme of M*A*S*H for their fancy dress and Darren somehow ended up playing the role of nurse Klinger!

Mind you, it’s not to be sniggered at, as the quality of their team area which was decorated as a field military hospital won them a prize of £100 - even more money to put in the fund-raising coffers.

As for the dragon boat race, the team finished first overall in the heats amongst 65 boats and with hopes running high they raced in the grand final only to be pipped at the post to come fifth, just two seconds behind he winning dragon boats.

M*A*S*H was the theme and the aim was to raise lots of money for charity

Congratulations from all at Into the Blue and bravo for raising all that money for Bishop’s Down Primary school - it looked like a lot of fun.

To help, we offer hundreds of activities to choose from, each with its own deep-linking URL, so you send clients directly to the pages from where they can buy. We also plan to offer affiliate marketing promotions and competitions, as well as the purchase commission you can earn by directing traffic to us that converts into a sale.

We’ll be using Affiliate Window for the Into the Blue affiliate programme, which is regarded as the most innovative, consistent and successful UK centric network for online affiliate marketing.

A very special ceremony was held last week to celebrate the 50 year contribution to Biggin Hill Airport in Kent by Jock Maitland (the father of Into the Blue founder Jim Maitland) with the naming of a new road on the airport estate in Jock’s honour.

Squadron Leader Jock Maitland MBE DFC is the former airport director credited with moving the Biggin Hill airfield from an RAF fighter station towards the commercial civil airport it is today. He also founded the International Air Fair, which sees the 47th Biggin Hill Air Fair at the airport on the 27th and 28th June 2009.

The ceremony, conducted by the Mayor of Bromley and the Chairman of Biggin Hill Airport, gathered together local dignitaries, staff from Into the Blue and Air Displays International, family and friends for the naming of Maitland Way. The ceremony concluded with a low-level Red Arrow flypast. Piloted by Flight Lieutenant Michael Ling, he will be flying ‘Red 7′ at the air show in June - which is a real personal honour for him, as when he was a young boy he stood on the flight line watching the Red Arrows display at the Biggin Hill Air Fair!

The road is a new link road off the main roundabout into the Biggin Hill business estate that will be home to a new hotel, offices and lead to the new bases for the airport’s aeroplane and helicopter flying schools. Once the development has been completed, the road will incorporate a visitor area with display panels showing the history of the airport and offer visitors to Biggin Hill and an excellent view of the runway, aprons and hangars.
